You can use InnoCaption for any phone call a hearing person would also make, including dialing into video conference meetings. However, organizations such as employers, schools or government offices that are required to provide accessibility accommodations cannot use InnoCaption as a substitute for CART captioning. The choice to use InnoCaption for calls or meetings belongs to the individual who is registered for the service and cannot be mandated by an employer or other organization.
What do you mean InnoCaption cannot be used as a substitute for CART?
For example, if a Zoom meeting is one which would normally have CART captioning if it was held in person, then you should continue to contract with a CART provider remotely. Organizations that are required to offer accessibility through a CART provider should not use InnoCaption to replace this service. If the meeting normally would not have CART captioning, but attendees need captions because it has moved to a virtual environment, then InnoCaption can be used.
Can I share the captions with others on the call using the DeskView feature?
When it comes to sharing the captions, if multiple attendees on the call would otherwise be using InnoCaption individually, we encourage screen sharing using our DeskView feature in order to minimize duplicate usage and billing to the TRS Fund.
